Unless it’s a simple title mix-up with Tomb Raider: Legend, we’re counting on IGN to have some explaining to do on a…thing they’ve nonchalantly dubbed as Tomb Raider: Legacy. Could it be the title of the next pillar release? Hit the jump to get the deets.
On the gaming site’s summary page for Activision’s Dangerous Hunts 2011, Brad Santos, scriptwriter and creative director for the FPS game, is credited with several other previous works, notably an unheard-of Lara Croft title called Tomb Raider: Legacy.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of course is a non-existent release off the franchise — but we’re only counting the official ones. In 2009, a fan-made game with the same title was reported to be in development, but even that didn’t have Brad Santos contributing in any shape or form, pixel or word.
Santos’ most recent work is with dev house Pandemic on open-world title The Saboteur, which was released December last year. Aside from heading open-world design for the game, Santos was also involved as writer.
As of this writing, we’ve obtained zero info on whether Santos — if at all — has studio-hopped from Pandemic onto Redwood HQ to presumably work on the mystery ‘Raider title. We are aware, however, that Santos offers game consultancy by profession.
Don’t worry, we’re scratching our heads with you on this one. Hopefully the mites falling off (ew!) will be worth it ones we’ve our hands on more info, which, worry not, we’ll be sure to deliver.
